WXEL president and CEO Jerry Carr has announced his departure from the Boynton Beach-based public broadcasting television and radio station after 13 years at the helm of the organization.

Carr, of Boca Raton, will be leaving on March 31 after a 55-year career in broadcasting, he said Friday.

But he's still open to any voiceover or consulting work that comes his way, he said.

Meanwhile, Barry University, which owns WXEL, has been looking to sell the station and has two suitors, Miami-based WPBT-Ch. 2 and the Community Broadcasting Foundation, a consortium of local residents and community leaders.

Talks to transfer the station's licenses are still under way.
